Thank you to all of the kids who helped make Rainie Curtiss, our Kid Life director, feel loved and appreciated on her last day on Sunday! Kids in kindergarten through fifth grade gave Rainie cards and notes of encouragement, as well as a scrapbook to celebrate her six years serving and loving children of The Sanctuary Church.
Moving forward, Carl Fisher and Michelle Mekeel will work together as a team to lead as interim directors of Kid Life. For the last 18 months, Michelle has worked closely alongside Rainie as a volunteer, and understands the day-to-day operations of our program for children. In the interim, Carl, our Student Life director, will expand his leadership role of our junior high and high school ministry to include birth through fifth grade.
All parents and volunteers are invited this Sunday to a short meeting after each service to learn more about the future of Kid Life and ask questions of Michelle and Carl. The meeting will take place in the hallway south of the church office.
Michelle and Carl, with the support of Pastor John Jou, are excited about interacting with families and continuing to help children grow in their walk with Christ.
We also wanted to let you know that Sarah West, our Women’s Link coordinator, decided to step down from that position this fall. Sarah has served faithfully the past few years, organizing women’s events, retreats and Bible studies. She decided to step down to focus on her family. We are extremely thankful for Sarah’s leadership and the way she loves women in our church.
As we close out the current fiscal year, Rick Curtiss, the Sanctuary’s treasurer, also decided to step down from that volunteer position. Two of our elders, Jeff Holtz and Seth Kaufman, will be overseeing the finances of our church in the interim. They have both worked closely with Rick on all aspects of The Sanctuary’s finances.
The Sanctuary has a nominating committee that will work on selecting a new treasurer. Church members will vote on that nomination.
Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement during these transitions in our church family.
