We are continuing our sermon series on diversity this weekend with guest speaker, David Spencer, who is the lead pastor at The Church of Chicago. Pastor Spencer has a heart for urban ministry and bringing the gospel of Christ to the city. He will be speaking on, “The Arrogance of Tribalism.” Pastor Spencer will be facilitating a conversation at The Sanctuary at a lunch after the 11 a.m. service Dec. 2.
Also on Sunday, Pastor John will be leading a conversation on Finding Unity in Diversity in the Community Room during the 9:30 a.m. service. The forum will provide a space for people to process the tension of the diversity conversation in a healthy way. Sanctuary leaders also hope this will create a place for people who aren’t involved in a growth group to get involved in weekly conversation on the topic of diversity.
To dive more into this topic, whether as part of a group or on your own, you can download the ONE study guide.
Plan to attend a Q&A with The Sanctuary leaders and Wade Burnett from Multisite Solutions at 6 p.m. Nov. 18. Childcare will be provided. Please continue to submit your thoughts, concerns and questions by clicking here. Hightpoint Pastor Ron Zappia will preach at The Sanctuary Nov. 25.
Our Fourth annual Turkey Bowl flag football tournament is Saturday at DuPage River Sports Complex in Naperville, IL. Come cheer on The Sanctuary Storm as Student Life battles for the title of champion! Games run from 9:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
PRAYER FOR THE SANCTUARY
We would like to set aside time every Sunday between services and Tuesdays at 6 a.m. to pray as a body for the next steps for our church. Please make this a priority and join us in the hallway outside the office for weekly prayer.
Would you like to host a discussion group in your community to provide a safe environment to explore questions about God and faith? Beginning in January, The Sanctuary will join more than 1,000 other churches in Chicagoland by inviting our community to look at seven big questions about God, Jesus, faith and purpose as part of the “Explore God” sermon series. If you are interested in hosting a discussion group in your community, please plan to attend an Info Meeting on Dec. 2 to learn more. Sign up at the Info Table.
THE FIGHT CLUB
Men of The Sanctuary meet monthly from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. in the Community Room for breakfast, Bible study, discussion and accountability. The next Fight Club meets Nov. 24.
