This week at The Sanctuary

Please join us Sunday for our Congregational Meeting at 6 p.m. at New Song Church. Members will be voting on whether to move forward with our plan to purchase a facility at 1255 Windham Parkway, Romeoville, to use as a permanent location for our Sunday morning worship, mid-week ministries and offices. We also will welcome new members at this meeting. Only members can vote during the Congregational Meeting, but all are welcome to attend. We will have childcare available for birth through preschool.

Family Sunday
This Sunday is Family Sunday! Children in kindergarten through fifth grade will worship in Big Church with their parents. We have Family Sunday the first weekend of the month. This gives our families an opportunity to worship together, and it gives our volunteers a week away from serving.

Tend the Garden
We are excited to come alongside two Sanctuary families at this year’s Tend the Garden event. Please meet at the church office at 9 a.m. Saturday for juice and donuts before we break off into project groups. Tasks will include weeding, mulching, planting and some lifting. If you have gloves and/or shovels of various sizes, please bring them along. Sign up at the Info Table if you are planning to attend or just show up on Saturday morning.

Online giving
You can now give your tithes and offerings to The Sanctuary through our web site. Go to cometothesanctuary.org and look for the “online giving” button on the home page. You can use PayPal or a major credit card to give your offering online.

KidsTown Sunday
May 6 is KidsTown Sunday! This is a Sunday when the kids get a chance to lead us in worship, and we get to celebrate those fifth graders who will graduate into our Junior High (Thrive) ministry! It is a great day to bring family and friends as your kids (preschool age and up) will be involved in some way in the service!

We will treat May 6 like a Family Sunday so there will be no Klubhouse and no Krew on this day. If you are a parent of a child, preschool age through fifth grade, here are a few things you need to know:

1. We will need all children in preschool through fifth grade at church by 8:45 a.m. on May 6! We want to do a quick run-through of songs and flow for that morning, so getting to church at 8:45 is essential!

2. Preschool kids will leave the stage after the first two songs and go back to class. We WILL have Preschool Place on May 6.

3. Klubhouse will lead worship for four songs by themselves, and then they will sit with their parents and remain in church for the rest of the service. There is no Klubhouse on May 6! Kids should wear their Klubhouse shirts if they have one. If they don’t, Pastor Ben will have some available to wear that morning.

4. Krew will take part in a graduation ceremony, and then they will sit with their parents for the remainder of the service!

Thanks for you cooperation, parents. If for any reason you do not want your child taking part in KidsTown Sunday or he/she doesn’t want to, that is completely fine. They will sit with you during the service. We are looking forward to a fun and exciting day of worship and celebration on May 6!

Men’s Retreat
Join other men from The Sanctuary in attending a men’s retreat May 18 and 19 at Timber-Lee Christian Center in East Troy, Wisc. This year’s topic is “Straight Thinking About Work.” The cost is $89 for those who register by April 30. Registration goes up to $99 after that. Please sign up at the Info Table if you plan to go on the retreat and also sign up online through the EFCA web site.

Motorcycle Sunday
On May 20, we are inviting all of our motorcycle-loving friends to attend our 10 a.m. service. Right after the service (around 11 a.m.), Pastor Ronn will pray over our guests, and we will have refreshments in the parking lot. This is a great opportunity to invite your friends to church! It will be fun to see all of the motorcycles after the service.

This week at The Sanctuary

Thank you all so much for your incredible generosity on Sunday as we gave our First Fruits offering to ARISE. Pastor Ronn will be giving you the result of that offering on Sunday morning. We are so thankful for the way God is working out the details each step along the way of this two-year journey of generosity. We appreciate each one of you, and the way you are helping us expand the vision God has for The Sanctuary!

Please join us on Sunday for an Info Meeting at 3:30 p.m. at New Song Church if you have questions related to our plan to purchase 25,000 square feet of an office building at 1255 Windham Parkway in Romveoville. We will be holding a congregational meeting at 6 p.m. April 29 at New Song Church, where we will ask members to vote on whether to purchase the facility to use as a permanent location for our Sunday morning worship, mid-week ministries and offices. We also will welcome new members at this meeting. Only members can vote during the Congregational Meeting, but all are welcome to attend.

ROMEOVILLE MEETINGS

Please be in prayer about two important meetings that are coming up related to our plan to purchase a facility in Romeoville. On Tuesday, the village’s Planning and Zoning Commission will consider a change to the village ordinance, allowing churches in the Business Park zoning district, which includes 1255 Windham Parkway. The zoning commission meets at 7 p.m. April 24 at the Village Hall Conference Room, 1050 W. Romeo Rd., Romeoville. If the change is approved, the full board will consider the proposal on May 2. We will need as many people as possible to attend this meeting at 7 p.m. May 2 in the Village Hall Conference Room, 1050 W. Romeo Rd., Romeoville.

What Now?

Most of the time life doesn’t go the way we hope it will. We expect God to do what we want Him to do. We get into situations in life in which we lose control. We have questions that remain unanswered. We face those moments in life where God just doesn’t seem to be on the same page we are. We come face to face with the reality that God’s will is not our own.

What do we do? How do we respond when God doesn’t show up the way that we expected? We make the best of plans, but something happens, forcing us to change course. It leaves us asking “What Now?”

The reality is that God is always moving, and He is always with us. What if we lived in absolute confidence that God was with us in EVERY situation. Would your life be different? What would you do right now if you had no doubt that God was with you?

Join us this Sunday as Pastor Ben kicks of the series, “What Now?” You won’t want to miss one week of this powerful seven-week series.

Separated

Catch up on our Resurrection Sunday service by watching the video from our You Tube channel. Pastor Ronn Smith preached the message “Separated.” We would love to hear from you! How did God speak to you through our Resurrection Sunday service? Leave us a comment below!

Spared

Catch up on our Good Friday service by watching the video from our You Tube channel. Pastor Ben Wangler preached the message “Spared” from Romans 8. The Israelites needed to sacrifice a lamb to save them from death on the first Passover. But Jesus became The Lamb who was slain to spare the world from death.
